July Crafternoon

Unfortunately I couldn't attend July's Crafternoon but it looks like much fun was had from the photos!

Thank you to Kim, Denise, Dawn J, Linda McK, Jan, Lori (double thanks for two demos!!), Wendy, June and Linda D for supping the demos.

Stock Exchange

Every Crafternoon we have a table set up with unwanted craft goods from our members. This can be anything from freebies from magazines to unwanted tools.I think all of us have probably benefited from the Stock Exchange whether it was gaining room from giving away unwanted stash or gaining some new crafty play things. If my memory is correct I think we have Kirsty to thank for this idea - Thank you!

Making Embellishements and altered box

Denise and Kim joined force with this joint demo. The group made beautiful embellishments that were then used to decorate a wooden box.

Decorative Candle

Dawn J's group were transforming plain white pillar candle to beautiful works of art. Fabulous designs ladies!

 Wired Wrapped Bracelet

Linda McK and her lovely ladies were making gorgeous bangles.

Creating ATCs

Every month we have an ATC swap. This month Jan was kind enough to show those new to ATCs what it involves. Gorgeous work ladies!

Goddess Bracelet

Lori's jewellery piece was a Goddess Bracelet. I think everyone will agree this is a gorgeous design and can even be made by those new to jewellery making.

Multi-standed Bracelet

Wendy was showing her group how to make a stranded bracelet. I suspect the hardest part, as with all the jewellery demos, was choosing the beads!

Decorative Paper Mug

June and her group were making these unusual and fun paper cups, perfect for gift bags for choccies. Love this idea!

Dahlia Card

Last but by no means least, is Linda's demo. She was showing her ladies how to make a gorgeous Dahlia card. Gorgeous, ladies!!!

As always thank you to those of you who come along to the Crafternoons and thank you for taking time to read our blog.

June Crafternoon - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

This month was an extra special crafternoon as it was our 1st Birthday! I think everyone will join me in thanking Linda D who decided she needed to start a therapy group for her craft addiction. What would we have done without her?!

Another thank you (yes this is like the BAFTAs) has to go to Lori, Kirsty and Dawn for the organsiation of the group.Without them the group would not be what it is today! And also not forgetting Sharon, although she may not be on the organising committee any more she did a fabulous job when she was.

To celebrate our birthday we had a raffle. Another thank you to everyone who donated prizes. We had enough in the end to make sure everyone had a little birthday present!

And the last thank you for this post goes to Linda D, Denise, Robina, Fiona, Linda W, Linda McK, Kim and Kirsty for supplying demos.

Raffle

We had lots of lovely prizes for the raffle from handmade cards and jewellery to dies, stamps and craft supplies.

Linda McK was teaching her ladies how to make an intricate beaded bracelet and earrings. Once again some stunning colour combinations were chosen to produce some fabulous shiny pieces.

Bottlecap Fridge Magnets and Pendants

Kim and her altered art queens were making beautiful altered bottle caps. From something plain in to beautiful works of art that can be hung on the fridge or worn proudly around you neck. Kim has kindly supplied instructions for her demo that can be found here.

April Crafternoon aka ALL OF THE GLITTER

Well this month seemed to be all about the glitter. I suspect people are still finding it in their hair, on clothes and in their homes. But as crafters we expect this!

A big thank you to Denise, Kirsty, Sharon, Kim, Robina, Jan, Dawn and Lori for providing some fabulous demonstrations.

April's ATC swap was along the theme of Fantasy and can be found here.

Pan Pastels Card

First of all we had Kirsty's group making a beautiful card using Pan Pastels over heat embossed stamped images.

Glitter Glasses

Denise's group were using glitter and Decopatch Glue to decorate wine glasses.

Shiny!

Glitter Paste Card

Sharon's demo involved experimenting with glitter
paste and stencils to make a gorgeous card. A spatula is used to apply the glitter paste to the stencil producing some beautiful designs.

Altered Coasters

Kim and her ladies were using gorgeous papers, Mod Podge and inks to decorate coasters. Gorgeous!

Promarker Tutorial

Robina was showing her lovely group how to use Promarkers. The shading of these pictures is fantastic.

Absolutely stunning!

March Crafternoon

First of all let me say a big "thank you" to Denise, Linda D, Kim, Linda M, Mandie, Lori, Dawn and Sharon for taking time out of their lives to prepare some fantastic demos!

Links to projects we have instructions for can be found on the right hand tool bar under "Project Instructions".

Here are the crafts our group had the chance to try this month.

Flat Spiral Bracelet

First of all, Linda M and her group created a lovely Flat Spiral Bracelet . Linda has very kindly agreed to share the instructions to make this bracelet, just click on the link and it will open a new page. Using different sizes of beads can create a number of looks.

Fleather Booklet

Have you heard of fleather? No, I hadn't either until I signed up for Denise's demo to make a fleather booklet. This was great fun and lots of mess! We used glycerine solution to soften craft paper, screwed it up, embossed and added colour with Distress Inks.  The paper was then lined with fabric and pages were sewn in to the booklet.

View Finder Card

Linda showed her group how to make a viewfinder card. This is a lovely design with a wheel that can be spun to see various images and sentiments.

3D Shoes & Handbags

We weren't sure if Dawn's group were getting ready for a night out or papercrafting while making fantastic 3D shoes and handbags.

Artist Trading Cards

The group have started an ATC swap every month with varying themes. This months theme was Spring. For those who were not sure what ATCs were about, our Altered Art Queen, Kim, ran a demonstration. If you would like more information about ATCs take a look at the Go Make Something website. The Clarity Stamp website also has a page for inspiration. Craftaholics past themes including photos can be found here or on the toolbar to the right under "ATC Swaps".

Distress Technique Card

Distress Inks made their second appearance on this afternoon with Sharon's Distress Technique card. A lovely effect is created by layering embossed images and Distress Inks.

Kusudama Flowers

Mandie added a touch of spring to the room with her Kusudama flowers. Beautiful Japanese flowers that can be used to create various decorations.

Spiral and Chain Jewellery

Last but by no means least is Lori's Jewellery demo. Dilemma choosing from too many beautiful beads and a few choice words when making the spirals but I am sure fun was had by all (I certainly enjoyed it!)

Thank you for taking time to look at the Craftaholics Anonymous Blog. Be sure to look back next month!
